Gaming is one of the greatest ways to relax, and yet, it’s not uncommon to wind up facing problems.
That’s especially true if your hardware isn’t quite up to snuff! Lag, latency, and unreliable equipment can destroy a good gaming session, taking it from fun and fruitful to just plain frustrating. Nobody wants to game when the hardware or software lets you down.
Fortunately, we don’t have to just put up with a bad gaming experience – we have control here! We’re going to lay out our top tips for elevating your gaming experience.
Bump Up Your Hardware
No amount of tips or tricks will overcome hardware that’s just plain clunky or outdated. You’ve got to have enough power in your gear to play games.
That doesn’t mean you have to splash out on the super high-end, very expensive gaming equipment, but it does mean you’ll want a decent PC with mid-range specs, and a reasonably good mouse and keyboard.
You might think any old mouse will do, but that’s sadly not quite the case – a bad mouse can make a surprising difference, as it may be unresponsive to movements, fail to click at crucial moments, or be overly sensitive to clicking.
Ideally, you want a gaming mouse with adjustability to suit your preferences – this can take the gaming experience from good to extraordinary in just seconds! And if you need an auto-clicker for one of your games, we’d recommend the Mahdi Auto Clicker!
Getting decent gear can make a difference no matter what kind of game you go for. Even basic browser games can be revolutionized by having a mouse that supports your hand and responds to your movements! Imagine trying to play a roulette game online with a bad mouse – it’s just not going to cut it, so make sure you’ve got the gear to make that experience truly fabulous.
You can get a decent mouse for very little money these days, and wow, it makes a difference. You’ll soon be spinning the roulette wheel with perfect precision, knowing that every click is going to be precisely what you intended.
That’s very important when you’re playing for real money at an online casino, and it goes way beyond roulette, improving every kind of game you play and making sure you’re always in complete control.
Use A Gaming Center
Many gaming PCs these days come with built-in gaming centers that are designed to optimize your machine for the best possible play!
For example, if you have an HP Omen laptop, you’ll have the Omen Gaming Hub, and actually, even a dedicated button on your keyboard for opening it (in many cases).
This boots up a program specially designed for gamers to optimize their machines to maximize the gameplay. Here, you can customize what your RAM is being dedicated to, how your machine prioritizes programs, and more.
Using this kind of software makes it way easier to boost your machine and increase its gaming potential. A badly calibrated machine can mean even a high-end laptop doesn’t seem to work well for gaming, so don’t underestimate the importance here; you’ve got to get the settings right if you want to see success.
Check Your Startup Programs
Ever noticed that when you get a brand-new machine, it starts up in seconds, but after a few months, that slows to a crawl? Solid-state drives have gone a long way to combatting that, but it’s still an issue. Why?
Because as you add more programs to the computer, more and more join the “launch on startup” queue, clamoring for your machine’s resources the second you power it up.
Lots of things that definitely don’t need to be running from the word “go” will end up on this list, and you need to get rid of them if that happens. You should therefore check what’s launching on startup, and ditch anything that you don’t need.
On Windows, you can do this by going into Startup Apps in System Settings. This brings up a full list and lets you amend it. It’ll even estimate how much each app is affecting the device, making it easy to focus on any actual problems.
On an Apple machine, go into your System Settings, then click General, and Login Items.
Look for Open At Login and then turn off any apps you don’t want. This won’t just improve your gaming performance, but your whole machine’s capabilities! Just make sure you don’t turn off any antivirus or cloud backup programs at this point; those need permission to launch with the machine.
In the same vein, it never hurts to check what’s running in the background before you start a gaming session. Close unwanted programs to free up a bit of computer-brain. Thankfully, we no longer have to worry about things like defragging, as most computers handle this in the background these days – so that’s a win!
